With a population of barely 200 inhabitants in the low season, the village dazzles visitors with its whitewashed buildings and captivates them with its climate and peaceful surroundings.

The beach is large and sandy, well sheltered from the wind and the few currents in the area, while the surrounding area is connected by trails, routes, and ravines that run through the park, revealing coves, views, and truly unusual species.

Belonging to the municipality of Níjar, its location in the Natural Park prevents excessive growth of its urban center, which has allowed Agua Amarga to maintain its character as a small town on the shores of the Mediterranean. Despite this, in recent years there has been a notable increase in the range of tourist services of all kinds, turning Agua Amarga into a lively vacation spot where you can enjoy a variety of leisure and sports activities.

In short, Agua Amarga is a unique place to enjoy a relaxing vacation by the sea and surrounded by the stunning nature of Cabo de Gata.
A charming and peaceful fishing village. Its inhabitants, fewer than 300, have always lived off the Mediterranean. On the hill that shelters it, you can see the ruins of the old loading dock where ore from the mines of Lucainena de las Torres was shipped.
The winding, narrow streets of Agua Amarga are dotted with crafts and pedestrians. Its tiny square is a charming spot, ideal for a snack.

Its coastline boasts unparalleled transparency. Cala de Enmedio, which can only be reached on foot, and Cala del Plomo are two arid and rugged paradises straight out of a surreal world.

Near Agua Amarga, heading towards Carboneras, after passing the Mesa Roldán tower and the lighthouse, hidden among the blackness of the steep mountains is the endless Playa de Los Muertos, the last beach in the Natural Park. Its white sand and turquoise waters make us forget that we are still in Almería. Before hiking to the beach, the Mirador de Los Muertos offers us a panoramic view of the entire landscape.

Agua Amarga Agua Amarga is a small fishing village nestled in the heart of the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park.
